Diversity and Inclusion Officer (P-2)


Principal Functions

Reporting to the Head, Human Resources and in accordance with the OPCW Core Values of Integrity, Professionalism and Respect for Diversity/Gender Equality, the Diversity and Inclusion Officer performs the following duties;

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The position is part of HRB Governance and reports to the Head of Head of Human Resources Branch. HRB Governance establishes HR direction and policy and acts as a strategic interface between staff representatives, HR senior management, HR inter-agency counterparts and governing bodies. Under the general supervision of the Head of Human Resources Branch the Diversity and Inclusion Officer will be responsible for developing HR initiatives and policies that create and foster an open and inclusive working environment and culture at the OPCW. The role also aims to strengthen the organisational communications to help build understanding of, and commitment to, Diversity and Inclusion across the OPCW workforce.

 

Key responsibilities:

  1. Contribute to the OPCW’s Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) policy and plan of action as a technical expert in the area, which includes managing the initiatives, events and programs that support the overall objectives and goals;
  2. Develop internal campaigns to raise awareness, influence leaders and personnel and embed Diversity and Inclusion across the Organization;
  3. Work with employees and supervisors to offer guidance on D&I issues and to provide insight on issues impacting these groups;
  4. Partner proactively with the Head, Talent Management to develop, facilitate and support inclusive leadership practices;
  5. In collaboration with the HR Analytics Officer, develop metrics and analysis for measuring the effectiveness of Diversity and Inclusion initiatives and prepare periodic reports to (senior) management on the value of such initiatives;
  6. Coordinate the work of the OPCW Gender Focal Points to increase gender equality in the Organisation;
  7. Prepare and review diversity-related communications, reports and surveys.
  8. Lead research, analysis and evaluation, and quantitative and qualitative research related to D&I;
  9. Plan, prepare, and coordinate D&I events, workshops, presentations, meetings and/or trainings, for employees and other key stakeholders in the Organization;
  10. Provide technical input, draft policy documents and required briefs/ documents/ reports related to Diversity and Inclusion;
  11. Keep abreast of relevant developments and best practices in the field of D&I;
  12. Participate in (UN) inter-agency meetings and activities to foster collaboration in the D&I space;
  13. Partner with the UN D&I network to co-design learning pathways and solutions for OPCW employees;
  14. Perform any other duties as required.

Knowledge and Experience

Education

Essential 

An advanced university degree in Social Sciences, Psychology, Gender Studies, Human Resources Management, or related field; a first level university degree in combination with qualifying experience (minimum 4 years) may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.


Experience

Essential

    A minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible experience working on Diversity and Inclusion and gender equality advancement and cultural shift.

Language Requirements

Fluency in English is essential and a good working knowledge of one of the other official languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish) is desirable.
