Senior ICT Systems Operations Assistant (GS-6)


Principal Functions

    Under the direct supervision of the Head IS Operation and in accordance with the OPCW Core Values of Integrity, Professionalism and Respect for Diversity/Gender Equality, the Senior ICT Systems Operations Assistant will have the following primary responsibilities;

     

    1. Maintains and support of the OPCW Security Critical Network.

      1. Maintain, extend, and administer highly secure domain with virtualized servers and virtual desktop infrastructure based on VMWare technology (vSphere, Horizon) .Ensure the smooth and effective operation of the servers, client workstations, scanners and printers;
      2. Installing and upgrading software on Windows servers, maintaining VMWare vSphere environment;
      3. Managing and configuring Virtual Desktop infrastructure components as well as Virtual Desktop software images, including VMWare App Volumes;
      4. Installing, configuring and maintaining hardware on workstations and servers within the SCN, such as physical server hosts, Storage Area Network (SAN) devices, thin clients etc;
      5. Troubleshooting hardware and operating system software related problems on servers and workstations;
      6. Providing day to day network server administration, including users accounts management, monitoring daily backups, and installing and configuring hardware and software for end users, optimizing performance and monitoring system environments; ;
      7. Maintaining a comprehensive inventory of OPCW hardware and software in Security Critical Network environment.

     

    1. Maintain of Inspection Mission Laptops.

      1. Maintain Mission Laptop Golden Image by install and upgrade software (Windows 10/11 Operating system, MS Office and other required software/apps.);
      2. Troubleshoot hardware and operating system software related problems;
      3. Providing -line support for users of the MLT's.

     

    1. Maintain and support Security Non-Critical Network.

      1. Installing and upgrading software on Windows servers, maintaining VMWare vSphere environment;
      2. Installing, configuring, and maintaining hardware on workstations and servers within the SNCN, such as physical server hosts, Storage Area Network (SAN) devices, etc;
      3. Troubleshooting hardware and operating system software related problems on servers and workstations;
      4. Providing day to day network server administration, including users accounts management, monitoring daily backups, and installing and configuring hardware and software for end users, optimizing performance and monitoring system environments.
      5. Providing second-line support on the help desk requests.

     

    1. Administer Microsoft 365 Services, Microsoft Azure Cloud Service.

      1. Assist with managing Microsoft 365 tenant along with all services used by the organisation, including but not limited to Exchange Online, Microsoft Defender, Teams, Security & Compliance center;
      2. Administer and manage endpoints using Microsoft Endpoint Manager (Intune).;
      3. Assist other teams within the branch in moving services to Microsoft 365 cloud services;
      4. Assist in formulating plans to leverage Microsoft 365 capabilities for upgrading on-prem services, based on effective security measures and benefit-cost ratio;
      5. Suggest improvements on current services hosted on Microsoft 365

     

    1. Provide other technical support, such as;.

      1. Assist with managing and supporting in relevant ICT technical matters;
      2. Collect information from technical personnel and vendors for acquiring new releases of software, new technical solutions and for obtaining patches and upgrades for existing software;
      3. Implementation, administration and maintenance of IT resource management system (inventory) within SNCN network;
      4. Produce relevant management information reports;
      5. Assists the IS Helpdesk to trace the workstation and server related incidents;
      6. Assist external consultants/technical focal points in implementing projects by providing required support/accesses.

      Knowledge and Experience

      Education

      Essential:

      High School diploma or equivalent diploma of higher secondary education


      Desirable:

      Relevant Microsoft Administrator certifications, VMWare Certifications, Certifications in Prince2, Certifications in ITIL.


      Experience

      Essential:

      At least six years of related experience in the ICT field with an emphasis on ICT Infrastructure; Experience in administering Microsoft365 services.


      Desirable:

      Experience in administering VMWare VSphere and Horizon virtualization platforms; Experience working with highly confidential information systems.


      Skills and Abilities (key competencies):

      1. Ability to quickly learn technologies in order to deliver results;
      2. Ability to analyse problems and react quickly in problematic situations with minimum supervision;
      3. Excellent planning skills;

      Language Requirements

      Fluency in English is essential and a good working knowledge of one of the other official languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish) is desirable
